Danny Federici, E Street Band Keyboardist Dies at 58

Danny Federici, the longtime keyboard player for Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band died Thursday, April 17, 2008. He was only 58 years old.

Federici lost his three-year battle with melanoma and passed away at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Bruce Springsteen's official website announced the news of his death on Thursday:

"Danny and I worked together for 40 years — he was the most wonderfully fluid keyboard player and a pure natural musician. I loved him very much ... we grew up together."

Danny's last performance with The Boss and the band was last month as he appeared during portions of a show on March 20 in Indianapolis.



How terribly sad. Too many of the great musicians are leaving us much too soon.

Clifford Davies, Former Drummer for Ted Nugent Found Dead

Ted Nugents's former drummer, Clifford Davies has reportedly been found dead in his home in Atlanta, Georgia. The 59-year-old apparently died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Sunday, April 13, 2008.

Autopsy results have not yet been revealed to authorities.

Davies had played on the recording to "Cat Scratch Fever" before quitting to become an engineer.

Cameron Diaz Father Died

Emilio Diaz, Cameron Diaz father, has died yesterday from pneumonia. He recently had the flu which turned into pneumonia. His death at the age of 58 was shocking as he was in terrific health.

Charlton Heston Dies at 84

Oscar-winning U.S. actor Charlton Heston who was famous for his roles in The Ten Commandments and Ben Hur has reportedly died on Saturday night at age 84. He was an amazing actor for those roles, especially for the movie Ben Hur for which he won an Oscar for best actor in 1959. He later became the face for the NRA supporting American gun rights.

Heston's family said in a statement that he passed away at his home in Beverly Hills with his wife Lydia by his side. In 2002, he announced that he was suffering symptoms of Alzheimer's disease.

Elliott Yamin's Mother Sadly Passed Away

Former American Idol contestant, Elliott Yamin has had very sad news. His mother Claudette Yamin, age 65 reportedly died last night in Richmond, Virgina.

Elliott's mother was hospitalized over the weekend and no cause of death has been revealed yet. Below is a photo of Elliott with his beloved mother who was always there to cheer him on.



Our hearts goes out to Elliott during such a terribly sad time.

Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr Pay Tribute to Neil Aspinall

The man often described as the "Fifth Beatle," Neil Aspinall, has died at age 66. Spinall was a former schoolfriend who drove the Beatles blue Commer van in the early days. Aspinall was the accountant who advised the Fab Four for over 40 years.

In a statement from Apple Corps, Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr described Aspinall as a “great man” who would be missed. Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison also added their name to the statement.

“As a loyal friend, confidant and chief executive, Neil’s trusting stewardship and guidance has left a far-reaching legacy for generations to come. All his friends and loved ones will greatly miss him but will always retain the fondest memories of a great man.”

Aspinall died in hospital in New York after a brief illness and is survived by his wife Suzy and five children.

Corinne Bailey Rae's Husband Jason Rae Found Dead

Corinne Bailey Rae's husband Jason Rae was reportedly found dead in an apartment in Leeds, England, according to the BBC. Police were called to where they found the 31-year-old saxophonist on Saturday afternoon. A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of supplying controlled drugs, but has since been released on bail. Reports suggest that Jason is suspected to have overdosed, but police are still waiting for toxicology results.

ABBA Drummer Ola Brunkert Found Dead

Ola Brunkert, the drummer of ABBA, found dead yesterday with his throat cut at his home in Majorca, Spain:

Police investigating the death of Ola Brunkert, 61, believe he may have fallen through a glass door in his kitchen wounding his neck on a shard of glass.

He then apparently tried to leave the house to seek help but collapsed in the garden and bled to death.

What a terrible way to die. R.I.P Ola Brunkert!

Norman Smith Pink Floyd Producer And Beatles Engineer Died

Norman Hurricane Smith, the engineer of The Beatles on all albums from their first album through 1965’s Rubber Soul album and the producer of the first 4 Pink Floyd albums has died, he was 85.

Norman Smith started working at EMI in 1959. Other than being The Beatles' engineer and Pink Floyd's producer he also released his own music under the name Hurricane Smith. In 1971 he released the hit single Don't Let It Die followed by the hit Oh Babe, What Would You Say? the year after.

Not many people can say that they worked on both Beatles and Pink Floyd albums. What a talented musician.

Jeff Healey Dies of Cancer at Age 41

Legendary rock and jazz guitarist Jeff Healey has reportedly lost his battle with cancer Sunday as fans and bandmates mourned his death at age 41. Despite his long battle with cancer, his bandmates were shocked. Healey died Sunday evening in a Toronto hospital surrounded by his family and bandmate Colin Bray. Bray said:

"I don't think any of us thought this was going to happen. We just thought he was going to bounce back as he always does."

Healey battled cancer since the age of one which was a rare form of retinal cancer known as Retinoblastoma which claimed his eyesight. Bray revealed that Healey's advanced lung cancer made his final hours difficult.

He rose to stardom as the leader of the Jeff Healey Band with international acclaim and platinum record sales with the 1988 album "See the Light" as you can see him performing it live in the video above.

What a terrible loss for his family and friends as well as his many fans. May he R.I.P. now.

Dave Clark Five Singer Mike Smith Dies Days Before Hall Of Fame Induction

Yesterday, Mike Smith, the lead singer of the Dave Clark Five died from complications related to pneumonia. He was only 64.

He was supposed to come to New York on March 10th for the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Induction ceremony which will honor his band. It's so sad that he died before receiving the great honor.

Katoucha Niane, Missing Former Top Model Found Dead

Katoucha Niane, a former top model for Yves Saint Laurent and other top designers who went missing in January was found dead. Police in Paris say that her body was found on Thursday in the River Seine.

Katoucha became one of the first African women to attain stardom as a supermodel posing for top photographers like Irving Penn.

After quitting the catwalks, she spoke out against female genital mutilation. Police pointed to the possibility that she may have fallen in the river accidentally because her body had no signs of foul play.

While police believe she may have fallen, she probably upset enough people when she spoke out against female genital mutilation. How sad.

David Groh, Actor from Rhoda Dies at 68

David Groh, best known for his role as Joe Gerard on the TV show "Rhoda", reportedly died of kidney cancer on Tuesday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A., according to the Los Angeles Times. David was only 68.

I heard the news earlier today, but I couldn't put a face to the name until I found his picture. I used to watch Rhoda when I was little. How sad! He was so young!

Roy Scheider, 'Jaws' Actor Dies at Age 75

Roy Scheider, the actor who was best known for his role in the movie Jaws reportedly died on Sunday afternoon. He was 75 years old.

Apparently Roy suffered from multiple myeloma for several years, and died of complications from a staph infection, according to his wife, Brenda Seimer.

Although he performed in many other movies and on stage, he'll always be remembered as the police chief Martin Brody from Jaws. Probably like many other kids who watched the movie when it came out in the movie theaters, I couldn't get the music out of my head for days. I even had nightmares of being in the water with the shark and the police chief trying to rescue me. I'm sure I wasn't alone though. That movie was pretty scary at that time.

Mr. Scheider was a great actor and will be missed by many fans of his work. R.I.P. Roy!

Shell Kepler Died

Shell Kepler, the actress who played Amy Vining on "General Hospital" died yesterday. She was only 49.

TMZ is reporting that she died of renal failure.

It's so shocking because she was still so young. She'll be forever remembered as the cute, gossipy nurse, won't she? I loved her role on General Hospital and I was really saddened by the news. R.I.P nurse Amy!

Anna Loginova, Celebrity Bodyguard Killed in Carjacking

Anna Loginova, a Russian model who started a bodyguard agency with females, some trained by the ex-KGB, to protect Moscow’s newly rich businessmen has reportedly been killed during a carjacking in the capital, just weeks after describing how she had fought off a similar attack. Loginova who was only 29, died from head injuries when she attempted to stop a young man from stealing her silver Porche Cayenne on Sunday night. She was thrown out of her car by the carjacker, however, Loginova grabbed the door handle and was pulled several meters before she let go and hit her head on the road according to Komsomolskaya Pravda.

Apparently Loginova recently gave an interview to the Russian Maxim magazine in which she described how she stopped another man stealing the Porsche. She said:

"I stepped out of my car and closed the door when I suddenly saw a young man near me. He grabbed me by the arm... By reflex, I used a jujitsu technique. I twisted his arm and hit him on the face with my elbow. The guy obviously was not expecting such a reaction."

Loginova said that when she grabbed her gun, the man jumped in his car and drove away.

She worked as a model for Chanel and BMW and didn't mind showing off skin in order to get more exposure for her bodyguard agency. She explained how female bodyguards offered a distinct advantage over men in Moscow:

"Many restaurants now do not allow a guard inside. They can come in and check everything but then they are asked to wait in the lobby. In contrast, you can take a female bodyguard inside, she will sit down at the table and nobody would guess that she's a weapon herself - and can react appropriately in any dangerous situation."

It's too bad that she couldn't save herself. She probably wanted to prove that she could scare off the guy who was stealing her car, but it was just a car and not worth her life. I can't imagine what she went through when she was killed that way. This could have happened to a male bodyguard too, but the business she was in was really dangerous and who knows who was really behind her death.

Christian Brando Died

Christian Brando, the son of Marlon Brando and Anna Kashfi, has died last night at the age of 49.
He was admitted into Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center on January 11 with pneumonia.
His attorney said back then:

"The prognosis is for a complete recovery," Brin said, "He's going to be OK."

But a friend claimed that he was in grave condition.

"He's in the hospital, and he's not doing very well. He has pneumonia with complications," a friend, who asked not to be identified, told Reuters.

May he rest in peace.
