Will Smith’s New Movie Hancock Accused of Being Homophobic

Uh-oh, Will Smith’s new movie Hancock is reportedly being accused of being homophobic by gay rights activists, according to Female First. GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) claim that a scene in the movie takes a “cheap, unfunny shot at gay people.”

The scene in question has Smith’s washed up crime fighter character dismissing other superhero images saying:

“Homo. Homo in red. Norwegian Homo.”

GLAAD claims “the slur sends a message that it’s okay to discriminate against gay people”.

Reps for Columbia have refused to comment.

Wow, I’m surprised Will Smith would be in a movie that would make fun of gay people! I’m disappointed.

Are you SERIOUS?!?!?! It’s called a JOKE…and the superheroes on the comic covers he was being shown DID look GAY. It is not homophobic to state that many gay men dress flamboyantly. Gay people need to get over the fact that they are not special, and not entitled to special treatment.

Yeah but its a bad joke on many levels. They couldn’t come up with something a bit more clever then the same ol gay joke? Or perhaps it’s an inside joke, his name is after all Hancock.
