Jay-Z Faces Lawsuit Over Copyright Infringement
photo courtesy of PR Photos/www.prphotos.comJay-Z is reportedly being sued for $88 million from an upcoming rapper who says Jay-Z stole his songs. Mitchell Rose filed the lawsuit in New York last month and alleges that he met Shawn Carter (Jay-Z’s real name) at a boxing match in 2001 and handed over a CD of his songs with hopes of getting a break as a musician.
Now he claims that Jay-Z used his music without crediting or compensating him for damages for “loss of opportunity and punitive damages for mental distress.”
That sucks if Jay-Z really stole his music, but I wouldn’t be too surprised if he did. This sort of thing probably happens in the music business a lot. Maybe Jay-Z isn’t “the best rapper in the world” as Chris Martin from Coldplay claims.
