This is one story I really hope is NOT true! According to the National Enquirer who is reporting this story as a world exclusive, Patrick Swayze was diagnosed in late January with pancreatic cancer that has spread to other organs.

They claim that Patrick, 55, has been traveling to Stanford University’s prestigious cancer center in Palo Alto for radical chemotherapy, but his doctors are no longer optimistic that the treatments will be successful and have reported he has five weeks left to live.

An insider said:

“He was told he could have two more treatments, but his cancer was not responding. In short - they held out little hope for a cure.”

I haven’t found any news elsewhere about this and I really hope the Enquirer has it wrong. This is very upsetting. I love Patrick Swayze!

UPDATE: Patrick Swayze’s doctor has reportedly confirmed that he has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer - but insists he’s not as close to death as reports suggest. Reports circulating have claimed that he only has five weeks left to live, but his physician Dr. George Fisher suggests he’s a lot more optimistic about the actor’s recovery. In a statement issued to WENN on Wednesday (05Mar08), Dr. Fisher said:

“Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far. All of the reports stating the time frame of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.”

Patrick is in my thoughts and prayers - I hope he makes a full recovery.
