Neil Patrick Harris Tickled Pink About Britney Spears Appearance

Neil Patrick Harris said he's shocked over the news that Britney Spears will be appearing on "How I Met Your Mother" on CBS. He told Entertainment Tonight:

“I was shocked that Madame Spears was willing to come and do some acting. This is a very interesting role. It is very not like her at all in real life in any of her previous chapters.”

The show with Brit is set to air March 24:

“She plays the secretary to another girl that Ted [Josh Radnor] is after. So, it will be very unlike any Britney we have seen before, and we have seen a lot of Britney recently.”

He joked:

“What if she shows up on set and she is absolutely, totally normal and that whole thing has been a big ruse?”

He imagines Britney on the set:

“She is smoking a cigarette and [says], ‘Oh yes, it is all a big bit. I have a master plan.’ “

This isn't Britney first guest appearance on a sitcom though because she appeared in NBC's "Will & Grace" in 2006. However, that was before the craziness.

It should be interesting - I don't watch that show regularly, but I tune in once in a while. Britney will probably bring up the ratings for that show because people will be curious if she can pull off a guest role now. It sounds like she could use the money from the TV appearance right about now.
