Catherine Zeta-Jones Thinks She's Too Old For Sex Scenes

Catherine Zeta-Jones thinks she's getting too old for sex scenes and claims she can't compete with younger actresses for sexy roles now. She said:
"I think it's a natural progression. I'm 38 years old and I'm going to play more mums than sex symbols. That's a gradual thing for me because I'm too old to play younger characters."

She added:
"I'm probably not the best actor in the world but on screen I have something that I know is a little different and also on stage."

It's kind of sad that she thinks she's too old at 38 now. I don't know why she doesn't think she can still compete with for sexy roles. It's not like she's wearing dentures now. And while I agree with her that she isn't the best actor in the world, she has always been able to rely on her looks and now that she thinks she's too old to go for the "sexy roles" - it sounds like she's setting herself up for some boring crap.

Hear, hear. If Ms. Zeta-Jones can't see past hollywood's broken filter, what chance do our women have?

Sad. She is much more beautiful than the vast majority of actresses, younger or otherwise. Too bed she sees herself that way.

That's a shame. She is one of the best looking actresses in the biz. I wish she did not view herself in a negative light because she is no where near old or not sexy. Michael what are you telling her!

I don't think she's telling us what she thinks of herself, I think she's telling us the truth about the business she's in. Of course she's very young, beautiful, and sexy: but where casting is concerned she is far less likely to be asked to play characters who are sexy, young and beautiful. She knows (probably because it's happening already) that she'll be getting offered roles to play moms, older girlfriend of the (young) female star...she'll be offered anything but the young, sexy starlet role. There are many beautiful sexy older actresses in film, and all of them are given these roles as well.

This is the way Hollywood works. I think that's what she's talking about. She just knows her business well, and knows where she fits into it.
