Austrian Monks Win Record Deal Through YouTube

Universal Music, which is home to Eminem and Amy Winehouse, advertised in religious publications for “monks, men of the cloth and sacred singers” to record a Gregorian chant album. The search ended after an Austrian monastery submitted a video YouTube clip that you can watch by clicking above.
Music execs were sent hundreds of demos but were most impressed by the video from the Heiligenkreuz monastery. The album is set for global release next month.
The Cistercian monastery houses 80 monks in the Vienna Woods, dating back to 1133. Apparently, Gregorian chant has reportedly gained a new audience through Enigma’s run of chart success in the 1990s, but dates back to the early Middle Ages.
Enjoy the music that was inspired by God and have a Happy Easter!
