Roy Scheider, ‘Jaws’ Actor Dies at Age 75
photo courtesy of PR Photos/www.prphotos.comRoy Scheider, the actor who was best known for his role in the movie Jaws reportedly died on Sunday afternoon. He was 75 years old.
Apparently Roy suffered from multiple myeloma for several years, and died of complications from a staph infection, according to his wife, Brenda Seimer.
Although he performed in many other movies and on stage, he’ll always be remembered as the police chief Martin Brody from Jaws. Probably like many other kids who watched the movie when it came out in the movie theaters, I couldn’t get the music out of my head for days. I even had nightmares of being in the water with the shark and the police chief trying to rescue me. I’m sure I wasn’t alone though. That movie was pretty scary at that time.
Mr. Scheider was a great actor and will be missed by many fans of his work. R.I.P. Roy!
