May Pang to Release New Book with Unpublished Photos of John Lennon

May Pang, John Lennon's former lover during the 18 months in 1973 and 1974 has completed a new book which is being endorsed by John Lennon's first wife, Cynthia Lennon. May's affair with John was arranged by her employer Yoko Ono when Yoko split from John. During their 18-month relationship also known as the "Lost Weekend," several of John's records were produced which can arguably be said to be his most creative time after the Beatles broke up.
Yoko is said to have tried to systematically erase May from Lennon's history, but May has now published a collection of photos she had during her time with him. May's new book, "Instamatic Karma" is hitting stores next month. Although this is May's second book about her relationship, the photos in this new book haven't yet been published.
Cynthia reportedly said:
"My first meeting with May, in the early seventies, was fraught with tension and uncertainty. My efforts to reunite Julian with his father after four years could [have] gone one way or another. May was wonderful, even though she was young and inexperienced in having to deal with such sensitive and emotional issues. Before long we became close friends. May was open, caring and compassionate to me and my son, Julian. For all that May has done in the past and hopes to achieve in the future, Julian and I will be her greatest champions. She is a lovely, vibrant lady. She was a good friend when my son and I needed one, and a dear close friend now. This book of photographic memories is very special and evocative of times remembered. May, We wish you all the success in the world."
I look forward to reading the book and seeing the unpublished photos of John Lennon. Isn't it interesting that she and Cynthia Lennon are good friends?

YAWN, same old same old. nothing new. Everything said in this article was already in her book Loving John she put out in 1983. There is only one picture of John and Paul in this book and you have all seen it in this article. Therefore, no need to buy the book. John knew how to mug for a camera, these pictures prove nothing. John said he was unhappy during the 18 months with May and I think John knew how he felt better then anyone else. May is worse then Yoko
John said he was unhappy during this time? Really? Can you provide the quote and where it comes from? I'd like to read that for myself because I've been studying the Beatles for years and never have I read anything like that.
Pardon me but isn't this a picture book? The article says that most of the photos have never been seen before, I for one can't wait to get a look at what John was like behind the scenes.
As for the Paul photo...who cares about Paul?????
Are you kidding? you have never heard his many public statements saying how unhappy he was during the "Lost Weekend"
Sure I can provide quotes:
Here is one from Lennon Playboy interview 1980
http://www.john-lennon.com/playboyinterviewwithjohnlennonandyokoono.htm
PLAYBOY: You're talking about your separation.
LENNON: Yes. We were separated in the early Seventies. She kicked me out. Suddenly, I was on a raft alone in the middle of the universe.
PLAYBOY: What happened?
LENNON: Well, at first, I thought, Whoopee, whoopee! You know, bachelor life! Whoopee! And then I woke up one day and I thought, What is this? I want to go home! But she wouldn't let me come home. That's why it was 18 months apart instead of six months. We were talking all the time on the phone and I would say, "I don't like this, I'm getting in trouble and I'd like to come home, please." And she would say, "You're not ready to come home." So what do you say? OK, back to the bottle.

here is more from Rolloing Stone 1975 Interview

Q: "What did happen with you and Yoko? Who broke it up and how did you end up back together again?"
JOHN: "Well, it's not a matter of who broke it up. It broke up. And why did we end up back together? (pompous voice) 'We ended up together again because it was diplomatically viable...' Come on. We got back together because we love each other."
Q: "I loved your line: 'The separation didn't work out.'"
JOHN: "That's it. It didn't work out. And the reaction to the breakup was all that madness. I was like a chicken without a head."
also Harry Nilssen said he saw Lennon crying:

But Lennon faced other trouble during this period. In October 1973, he and Ono separated, after four years of marriage. Lennon claimed she threw him out. Ono said she was feeling lost as an artist. "What am I going to do?" she said. "My pride was being hurt all the time." Lennon moved to Los Angeles for a time, accompanied by his and Ono's secretary, May Pang, who became his lover. At first, Lennon asserted a delight at leading a single person's life. He caroused and drank heavily with Harry Nilsson (a favorite songwriter of Lennon's, who died of heart failure in 1994), the Who's drummer, Keith Moon (who died in 1978 of an overdose of medication he was taking to treat alcoholism), and Ringo Starr (whose alcohol addiction in those days sometimes resulted in blackouts). It became apparent that Lennon was miserable without Ono. He begged her -- often calling many times a day -- to take him back, but she said he wasn't ready. Lennon fell apart. He behaved horribly in public, and he smashed up a friend's house where he was staying. Nilsson later recalled Lennon crying while drunk at night, wondering what he had done wrong.
Lennon's depression and bravado ran alongside each other in his 1974 Walls and Bridges. The work was essentially an open plea to Ono -- indeed, parts of it, such as "Nobody Loves You (When You're Down and Out)" and "Bless You," were heartbreaking.
This news puts a big smile on my face! Can't wait to read the book. Right on, Cyn and May for being two class acts.
John absolutely did say he was unhappy during this period, but to only satisfy Yoko he said he was unhappy.
She was a controlling woman. Who in their right mind would go back to their wife and admit to the world that they were happy with someone else? She knew it but did not want anyone else to. Yoko wrote the whole script.
She played with his mind. He loved two women but was controlled by one. Yoko was the mother and May was the lover.
The worst John Lennon ever looked was after May Pangs and John Lennons relationship was over.
John did not get drunk every night when he was with May. If this were so he would not have been able to accomplish as much as he did during this time. He did not work behind a desk answering phones. He used his mind and was very productive. If he did drink as much as some people assumed that he did this could never of happened.
There were a few times when he got out of hand. In an eighteen month period this is not considered all the time. Do the math. Unless you are drunk and can't think.
In my opinion the pictures of John and May show John happy and serious. Not at all depressed.
As for May Pang bringing out pictures thirty years later only proves she was not in it for the money. If it were so she would have done this a long time ago.
All she wanted to show was that he was happy and so was she. I guess she was just tired of some people believing differently and wanted to prove it.
Also, May herself confirms how unhappy John was with her in her first book "Loving John". She states over and over how John was drunk, in fact she gave John being drunk MORE publicity then the two Troubador incidents. In her book she states six examples of John going on a drunken rampage. May also states several times in detail how John beat her and wanted to end the relationship more then once. How can she carry on now like it was some great love affair when she in her own words described how terrible this relationship was?Sorry, once you put something in print you can't take it back like it never happened.
Several people John was with witnessed how unhappy he was. He did not just say it for Yoko, what a bullshit excuse. You tards will believe anything. Mark Hudson, Elton John, and Harry Nillsen all saw how unhappy he was, crying at all hours of the day and night and screaming in public how he only wanted Yoko, hell just read May's book it's all in there. She told the truth in the first book. This book is just for money.
