Fancy Pants Judge May Now Lose His Job!

As mentioned in May 2007, a judge sued his local dry cleaners for losing his pants. Roy Pearson lowered his demand in his claim by the time the case went to trial in June…to $54 million from $65,462,500!

He shouldn’t have turned down the settlement offer of $12,000 from the local dry cleaners when he had the chance. The Chungs’ lawyers, Christopher C.S. Manning and Melinda A. Sossamon, reportedly filed their own lawsuit seeking $82,772 in legal fees from Pearson for prosecuting what they considered a frivolous lawsuit. Pearson is now claiming that the Chungs have been so successful at raising money for their defense that any money from him would amount to “a windfall, not compensation.”

This isn’t the worst of Pearson’s troubles now though. He is now facing the possibility of losing his job. This week, a city commission took a step toward to ending Pearson’s career as an administrative law judge by informing him in a letter that he may not be reappointed.

Well, Pearson misused his power and now he has to face the consequences. As the saying goes:

“What goes around comes around.”
